Claremont

The Claremont district is a distinguished and gracious Berkeley neighborhood from the turn of the century, consisting primarily of grand, historic and elegant homes by some of the area’s most notable architects. Sited along quiet tree- lined streets on a hilly terrain, many of the the homes are characterized by lush gardens and mature trees, this coveted community offers some of the Bay Area’s most desirable residences. A small shopping area nearby features a coffee shop, a local organic grocery and butcher, a flower store and some additional options while there is also nearby access to hiking trails, biking routes, parks and the great outdoors. Above the Claremont, the Claremont Hills neighborhood is built into the hills overlooking san Francisco Bay and the mostly newer homes represent a wide range of styles and finishes.

Nearby, the Rockridge and Elmwood neighborhoods are popular and also close to the popular shops and restaurants of College Avenue in proximity to good Berkeley schools, the University, Alta Bates Hospital, BART and the SF commute. The historic homes and beautiful tree lined streets give this neighborhood a distinctive, old-world feeling which is attractive to a wide market, especially San Francisco transfers who like the combination of urban “buzz” and proximity to nature.
